Clun Forest - Semi-Worsted Spun

Blood - Clun Forest - semi-worsted

$22.00

200 yds, DK weight, spun semi-worsted

Clun Forest is a springy yarn with good crimp, elasticity and bounce. Yarn will be warm and take abuse, think fisherman’s sweater, everyday shawl and mittens.

Yarn spun semi-worsted goes through a carding/drafting process that aligns the fibers. The fibers that make up the plies are close to parallel. Semi-worsted yarn has less loft then woolen spun yarn, but better stitch definition.

Clun Forest is a heritage breed and featured in the Livestock Conservancy’s “Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em” promotion. A “Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em” sticker is included with each purchase.

Wool is sourced from a family farm in Wisconsin and spun in Iowa.

Additional Info

Clun Forest is a Heritage breed that originated in England and the breed today remains uncommonly similar to the original. Clun Forest is raised primarily for carcass, but produces an excellent fleece. Fleece is durable (25 - 28 microns), staple length of 3 - 4 inches, with a blunt end and good crimp. Wool is cream, no other colors. Clun Forest can feel rough to the touch, although the semi-worsted spun yarn has a smoother texture.
